BAF Speed of Tape

What it does

Speed of Tape is a compact, anchored gauge that helps you read real-time execution intensity: how quickly trades are printing, and whether that activity is leaning buy-side or sell-side. [file:1]

It computes pace using a rolling time window, then normalizes the current reading against a “lagging max” so the fill level stays meaningful as volatility expands and contracts during the session. [file:1]

When the delta column is enabled, it also tracks net delta (buy volume minus sell volume) and highlights both sudden bursts and sustained pressure—useful for spotting initiative flow during breaks, failed breaks, and pullback continuations. [file:1]

What it’s built on

This indicator is driven by executed prints (Time & Sales / “Last”) and infers aggressor side using bid/ask when available, with an uptick/downtick fallback when it isn’t. [file:1]

It’s designed to complement book-based tools: it reflects what actually traded, not what’s resting in the order book. [file:1]
